Rewind

So when I saw the inspiration photos for this week's Style Me Friday challenge, I was immediately drawn to the second outfit.  I thought it was because I'm having a stripe moment right now, but then I realized...
I actually created this look on my own almost a year ago to the day.  Spooky, huh!?!  Guess that means my style is inherently the same.  My life has changed A Lot since then, but it's good to know I'm still me.  That's important.  Check out my original post here and head over to The Fashionista Next Door to see how she and others styled their pink jeans.  Happy Easter!

Kute with K.Logan Hair

A couple of weeks ago I had the awesome opportunity to receive a hair makeover at K.Logan Hair.  I was 1 week post my semi big chop and still a little in shock...okay A Lot!  I was still wavering between letting the cut grow on me (no pun intended) or just cutting it all even with my mini fro (shaved side).  My bestie encouraged me not to do anything drastic so I decided on a rinse to cover my greys and a flat twist-out.  It may be hard to tell in the pictures, but I went kinda burgundy on top and then black everywhere else.  The rinse turned out great and it has really held up considering I've been predominantly wearing wash and go's.  I also liked the look of the flat twist-out even with the shorter length.  Since I'm trying to manipulate my hair less than I had prior to the chop, I maintained this style by applying a light moisturizer and retwisting bigger sections at night (no combing).  The result can be seen here.  I highly recommend K. Logan Hair and will be back when my rinse needs refreshing.  If you're in the Atlanta area and in need of a stylist, definitely check them out!

White Jeans? Why Not!

Inspiration c/o Gary Pepper

Coat, Watch- DKNY
Shirt- Ross
Jeans- Levi's
Report Georgianna Bootie

I recently rediscovered my white jeans and have worn them a couple of times during the winter months...yes, I'm a rebel lol!  Because they're boot cut and would look weird with heels due to the length, I styled them casually...vintage sweat shirt and sneakers.  I was super excited to see them as the focal point of The Fashionista Next Door's most recent Style Me Friday.  I love how they look with this floral shirt and my Report Georgianna booties.  I forewarned you guys in my previous outfit post that I'd be wearing the heck outta them!  If you haven't already, head over to The Fashionista Next Door to see how other fashionistas and fashionistos ;) styled this look.

Happy Manicure Monday!  I had an eventful weekend...Girls Nite Out, family time with the kiddos, and I attended the B. Fab Blogger Awards.  More on that later...  I'm super excited that I was able to squeeze in some me time to give myself a mani!  It's been a while!!!  Since it's finally spring time I went with, Urban Outfitters Smush.  This color is one of my favorites this season and I can't wait to add it to my wardrobe with peaches and corals.  If your wondering about the title of my post, here's a little something to get ya thru the day :)

She's so Tulle

Dress- Ross old
Camo Jacket- Urban Outfitters, Similar
Report Georgianna Bootie
Old belt
Watch- Esprit
We made it! Happy Friday!!!  I'm sooo glad the weekend is here.  Getting back into school mode this week was a serious struggle and of course they welcomed us back with an exam :-/.  My definition of grad school is pressure pressure pressure woosah pressure pressure pressure.  Such is my life!

I'm full of epiphanies these days...  My most recent, not to simply look decent when I'm running around with the kiddos but to wear something blog worthy so that when I find scenery like this I can take advantage.  I happened upon this really awesome mural when I was taking my son to meet his buds at the arcade last weekend.  Isn't it amazing!?!

Fortunately, I was wearing one of my favorite dresses which I scored at Ross nearly 4 years ago for < $10.  I paired it with this camo jacket because it was windy and bonus points it was St. Paddy's weekend!  I'm in love with my Report booties because they go with EVERYTHING and are super comfy.  I'll try not to wear them every weekend. If I don't succeed, I'll keep an extra pair in the car so I can switch them out when I come across more awesome scenery ;).

Semi Big Chop

On Friday it will be 2 weeks since I got my semi big chop.  I was in mourning about my hair, but I'm finally ready to talk about it... My hair had been shedding by the handful for quite some time and had become noticeably thinner.  I longed for the days when my hair looked like this.  I mistakenly thought that getting a haircut would get me back there, but I failed to realize that my hair was pretty much the same length pre-haircut that it was when it was full almost 2 years ago.  This means that I wasn't retaining length which was no surprise based on the amount of hair I was losing daily.  Now, the question that arose was why.  Why was I losing so much hair???  I don't use much heat.  I use products made specifically for natural hair.  After I got my hair cut, I had an epiphany.  MANIPULATION.

When I discovered the natural hair community on YouTube a few years ago, I became instantly obsessed with the styling techniques.  I, however, did not give much attention to the tips on caring for my hair.  I didn't think I needed to since I've always had a lot of it.  Although I like big hair, I like big defined hair.  Every night I was combing it out dry (and not very cautiously), re-twisting, and losing copious amounts of hair. Hence the term manipulation...

I'm still getting used to this new length.  I'm a serial big chopper so I don't know why it's been so hard this time.  I honestly think I would've taken it better if I cut it all the way down to where the side was shaved.  That way it would have been an entirely different look rather than my new fro being my old fro's little sister.  Cutting it off completely is still an option, but I'm gonna give this a little time.  In the meantime, no more daily manipulation on dry hair.  The bantu knot-outs are a no go for now.  I plan  to try a couple of twist styles after I wash on the weekends I don't have much going on in case they're an epic fail.  Until then I'll be sticking to my good ol' wash & go's.

Neon Flowers

Dress- Buffalo Exchange/ Shoes, Bracelets- UO/ Earrings- BCF

Hi guys!!! Spring break has been productive and lazy at the same damn time!   I stay in my PJ's until about 4 PM daily (don't judge me), but I've gotten A Lot accomplished in terms of housework, paperwork, etc...  Of course I already feel the end of my week off drawing near so I'm kicking it into high gear today and will get dressed by 1:00 :).  Seriously, I do plan to get out a little more toward the end of the week and hopefully I can squeeze in at least one social activity.  Talk at ya Friday!

Spring is in the Air

Jacket- Kenneth Cole/ random tank/ Jeans- Ross/ Shoes- Report via TJ Maxx

Happy Monday!  Is that an oxymoron!?! I'm on spring break this week so I'm planning to use this time to do some much needed life maintenance.  Although I'd love to relax this week, my hope is that using this time for planning will help make the last few months of the semester go a little more smoothly.
With the time change this weekend, it instantly started feeling like spring time.  The beautiful weather we are having in Atlanta also helped and I certainly hope it sticks around.  The Fashionista Next Door's Style Me Friday post definitely captured this feeling with floral pants inspired by Jessica Alba.  I absolutely love Jessica's cool casual style.  I was inspired by her in a previous post.  Head over to Eboni's blog to check out how her guest blogger Trina and others recreated this look.  I'm off to do laundry...

Kela of Naturally Kela
Hi guys last Friday I attended Dinner With Curlfriends hosted by Jenell of Kinky Curly Coily Me.  The event was held at the lovely Museum Bar.  The curlies chatted amongst themselves while enjoying good eats, I went with the shrimp & grits.  I'm not big on grits, but I needed something to stick to my ribs since I had an exam earlier and hadn't eaten all day...Grad Life!  It definitely hit the spot and it was deelish!  Next, there were giveaways.  I somehow ended up on stage as a presenter.  Don't know how the heck that happened!?!  I had a ball though!  I relish any opportunity to be among my fellow naturalistas and Jenell was just as sweet IRL as she is in her vids.  Check out more photos from the event here.  Have a great weekend!

Enjoying the show with T Marie

This is my second post this week! Woot!!!  On Saturday, I attended the runway show for Fro Fashion Week.  Although it was freezing outside (hence my breaking out the chinchilla), the minds of the attendees were on warmer temps as the models ripped the runway with the upcoming trends for spring and summer.  I was absolutely in love with these swimsuits by Chris Middleton NYC.  The one on the left is totally gonna make me do sit-ups after I finish writing this post!  The show was a blast!!!  I had thee best time hanging out with Atlanta's fashionistas and naturalistas from far and wide! Gotta go :).

Inspiration photo: Fab Sugar

Urban Outfitters BDG Blazer/ Old Navy Tank old/ Converse sweatpants similar/ Shoes- Nine West/ Clutch- thrifted/ Earrings- Bebe/ Watch- DKNY

Hola! I'm coming atcha with another Style Me Friday post on Monday ;). Last week I had a neuroscience final...need I say more?!  Since I was not able to blog last week, I took every opportunity I could to take pictures this weekend.  That was a huge feat since it was in the 30's and 40's all weekend.  We even had some snow flurries!  I threw this outfit on for Sunday brunch.  I snagged these converse sweatpants at Ross over a year ago.  This is only my second time wearing them and I'm pretty sure the last time I wore them with a pair of Chucks.  I love how adding the blazer and heels gave them instant polish.  The pop of color with the clutch is a gentle reminder that spring is around the corner.  I'll be so glad when the weather recognizes that!  I loved recreating this look.  Keep 'em coming Eboni...
