Love how adding the black and white effect makes this photo timeless...
The weather in Atlanta was gorgeous this weekend.  On Saturday, I made my second trip to Sherane's Vintage Closet for a little shopping and pampering!  I was greeted upon entry and offered a glass of wine as well as hor d'evours.  I perused the racks and immediately fell in love with the vintage dress (pictured above).  I had to try it on!  I was super ecstatic that it fit and looked as cute on as it did on the hanger!!!  After I checked out, I was offered a complimentary hand massage and manicure.  Sherane is such a sweetie.  Definitely stop by and check out her goodies!  Did I mention the $10 rack!?! I also ran into Arkeedah of It's Arkeedah... <3 her and the gorgeous Sheronda of Tress Talk, which was awesome. How did you guys spend your weekend?

Hola! It's been a while since I did a regular outfit post! I fell in love with this dress when I saw it at Marshall's late last year (pre-shopping restriction).  I bought it and wore it almost immediately, which is rare for me.  Since I didn't take pics when I wore it, I decided to throw it back on last week to get a few shots.  I mostly wanted to capture my shingled hair.  I rarely wear it this way in the winter since I have to wash it and leave it wet to achieve this style.  I love the curls although they majorly shrink. Another reason that I don't wear this style often is because it requires A Lot of product.  It also doesn't last!  I usually wake up looking like Sideshow Bob o_O.  This time I smarted the system and wore a plastic cap under my bonnet at night.  This trick helped me maintain the curl and I was able to rock a curly afro puff the day after (see pic below).  By day 3 it was a WRAP (see pics from World Swap Day)!  I really should have moisturized and did some type of twist/braid-out prior to day 3 although it rained pretty much all weekend so I don't know if that would have been much help.  It's Friday! Woohoo!!!  I hope you guys have a great weekend!

I had my very first get-together of 2012 on MLK day.  Because Dr. King had a Dream, I decided that we should celebrate the Holiday by declaring our Visions for the New Year.  We had a great time eating, chatting, and eating AGAIN!  So far 2012 has been ah-mazing!!!  I have so much to accomplish this year and am excited to see what the future holds...

Don't even want to talk about it! Rained all weekend :(

In spite of a monsoon, I attended World Swap Day at B&R Thrift Store on Saturday.  This was the second event I attended that was hosted by Kerrie and Kay Cee (see the I Love Thrifting event here).  As usual, they did not disappoint! Swappers were asked to bring in 3 or more gently loved items and, in turn, we were able to get 3 items initially and at the end whatever items left over were fair game!  I found 3 really cute skirts.  I have yet to try them on, but will definitely post when I style them. I had such a great time mingling with the other bloggers, but I did manage to do a little shopping as well.  I bought another skirt (can you tell I'm ready for warmer temps?), a clutch, and 2 bracelets for a grand total of $9!!! So glad I didn't let the rain rain on my parade!  Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend!

On Saturday, January 14th, I attended the Natural Girls Rock event.  It was held in Atlanta at 595 North.  The event was hosted by Who Is Sugar Who is? Absolutely Gorgeous!  The event featured a catered lunch, vendors, giveaways, and hair Hair HAIR!  It was great to see so many naturals under one roof!  I caught myself staring at all of the natural beauty and was even tempted to touch!  Of course, the bloggers were in the house :).  I ran into a few that I knew and met some new ones that have already inspired me.  For photo coverage of the event, please check out my fb page.  Natural Girls Rock!!!

On Friday I attended the Fashioning the New Year event, hosted by The Dynamic Duo Danielle and Lexi.  The event started with the showcasing of apparel, hair, and body care. It was great to see designer items for a fraction of the retail price!  We then played a game similar to The Price Is Right where an item was shown to us and we had to guess the TJ Maxx price.  The person who guessed the price correctly got to keep the item.  It was a blast!  Next, there was a styling challenge where we were given 12 minutes to create a stylish outfit for the lowest price.  While I admit I am a discount shopper, I must also admit that I was a little intimidated by all of the fashionistas present so I was definitely SHOCKED when I was chosen as one of the 3 challenge winners!  I won a $25 gift card in addition to the one that we all received for attending.  You're probably not gonna believe this but with $50 worth of gift cards in hand, I did not shop!  I was too busy mingling with all the fabulous ladies in attendance.  My urge to splurge was probably also tempered by the fact that I ran into Nine West prior to the event to purchase the AroundTown platform Mary Janes which had been marked down to $39.60 from $99!!! I tweeted about these Friday when I got the 60% off email from Nine West! I'll definitely let you guys know what I end up buying with my TJ Maxx gift cards.  Stayed tuned...
